Our story

Cables failed.
RF faded.
We went mobile.

Wind SCADA has been tried through many methods and modes of communication. Most didn’t last. Here’s how the industry got to remote SCADA — and where we came in.

  1. Early period

    Cabled SCADA

A number of disadvantages & limitations. High investment & low scalability.

  2. Alternative

    Radio Frequency

RF model did not sustain longer. Frequent failure / disconnection.

  3. Early 2006

    Clear need

Reliable connection & visibility with data availability for uninterrupted generation.

  4. 2006

    ROOK’s Remote SCADA

Rooktec introduces remote SCADA with SIM cards.

  5. Present

    Web-monitoring

Web-based monitoring achieved with communication & security standards as per CEA & SLDC.

Why we chose remote SCADA

  • Low investment

    Affordable communication & reduced OPEX.

  • Reliability

    Proven communication & data availability.

  • Coverage

Reaches remote places with Rook’s signal boosters.

  • Easily scalable

Plug & play allows faster troubleshooting.

How it works

FAQ

What plant owners
ask us most

Yes. A complete Rook-managed SCADA solution includes Rook’s hardware, software, communication, remote server infrastructure & maintenance.

Rook’s solution is engineered & custom-made to the client’s operational requirements — dashboards, reports, charts, user access and SLDC requirements.

Yes. As a recognised data aggregator for the Tamil Nadu SLDC, Rook’s solution complies with CEA & SLDC requirements.

Wind turbines from Siemens Gamesa, ReGen Powertech, Vestas, NEG Micon, Enercon, Suzlon, WinWinD, Shriram EPC, RRB Energy, NEPC, Pioneer Wincon and CWEL. Solar inverters from ABB, FIMER, Gamesa Electric, SINENG, Sungrow, Trinity Touch, Kernel Sistemi and Hensel.

Yes. Rook SCADA connects to the controller already in the turbine through a Rook RTU, so it does not depend on the OEM’s own SCADA or portal. Supported older makes include NEG Micon, WinWinD, Pioneer Wincon, NEPC, RRB Energy and CWEL.

Rook supports both. An M2M SIM on the mobile network suits scattered turbines and remote sites with no cable route; fibre suits compact plants that already have it. Solar plants can also connect over RF. Rook manages SIM renewals and the communication architecture.

SIM card renewals, server infrastructure maintenance, communication architecture and a web page to suit your requirements all fall under Rook’s scope.

Rook introduced remote wind turbine SCADA over the mobile phone network in 2006. It has hundreds of installations from Gujarat to Tamil Nadu, still performing today.
