Rook SCADA

Remote control for wind turbines, from wherever you are.

Start, stop and change setpoints on turbines across every site without sending a technician — with hierarchical logins that give each person exactly the control they need.

The short answer

What is remote turbine control in SCADA?

Remote turbine control lets authorised users send commands — such as start, stop or a new setpoint — to a wind turbine from a central SCADA system rather than at the machine itself. In Rook SCADA, commands are sent from the web dashboard through the Rook RTU at the turbine, and each user’s login decides which commands they can send.

For owners with turbines spread across districts or states, that means fewer site visits and less time between spotting a problem and acting on it.

Capabilities

Control that matches how your team is organised

The right people get the right controls, and everyone else can still see what’s happening.

  • 01

    Start and stop remotely

Bring a turbine back online, or take it down safely, without travelling to site.

  • 02

    Change setpoints

Adjust operating setpoints from the dashboard when site, grid or SLDC conditions call for it.

  • 03

    Multi-level remote control

Hierarchical login credentials with different operational access, so operators, supervisors and owners each get the controls that fit their role.

  • 04

    See the result live

Watch the turbine respond on the same screen you sent the command from, with real-time monitoring.

  • 05

    One interface for every OEM

Send commands to turbines from different manufacturers through one consistent interface. See OEM compatibility.

  • 06

    Fewer site visits

Save travel to remote and scattered turbines, and cut the downtime between a fault and a restart.

How it works

How a remote command reaches the turbine

Every command is tied to a named user and confirmed on the live dashboard.

  1. 01

The user signs in with their own credentials. Their role decides which turbines and commands they can reach.

  2. 02

    Send

They select a turbine on the dashboard and issue a start, stop or setpoint command.

  3. 03

    Deliver

The command travels over the SIM or fibre link to the Rook RTU, which passes it to the turbine controller.

  4. 04

    Confirm

The turbine’s new status appears on the live dashboard, so the user can see the command took effect.

Access levels

Who can do what

A typical three-tier set-up. Access levels are configured to how your organisation works.

  • Trips & faults

    Operator

Watches live data, acknowledges alarms and starts or stops the turbines assigned to them.

  • Escalations

    Supervisor

Everything an operator can do, plus setpoint changes and oversight across sites.

  • Generation reports

    Owner

A portfolio-wide view and the reports that matter, with control kept to the people on the ground.

FAQ

Remote Control: common questions

Yes. With Rook SCADA, authorised users can start and stop turbines and change setpoints from the web dashboard, without being at the turbine.

Only users whose login allows it. Rook SCADA uses hierarchical login credentials, so each person — operator, supervisor or owner — gets the level of operational access their role needs.

Rook SCADA is web-based, so it opens in a browser on a desktop, tablet or phone. What you can control depends on your login’s access level.

Rook SCADA follows the communication and security standards set by CEA and SLDC, and every user signs in with individual credentials limited to their role.

Rook SCADA is compatible with leading wind OEMs, including Suzlon, Enercon, Vestas, Siemens Gamesa and ReGen Powertech. See the full OEM compatibility list.
